In 2019, Canada broke the record of maximum immigrant intake by a country. The country welcomed nearly 341,000 immigrants. Among the immigrants 58 percent are from the economic class, 27 percent belong to people who landed under family sponsorship and the rest 14 percent are considered as the refugee class. Of the immigrants, 25 percent were from India and that constitutes 86,000. Thus India contributed to the major share of immigrants and in the second position is China, with 30,200 people. Canada is Further planning to extend the upper limit on the number of immigrants and is expecting around 360,000 in 2020.
