An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 scales hit the Eastern province of Elazig, Turkey, and 22 people have been found dead with thousands of other injured people. More than 30 buildings have collapsed due to the earthquake in two provinces.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Twitter “All measures were taken to ensure that the earthquake that occurred in Elazig and was felt in many areas has overcome with the least amount of loss”.
“Our houses collapsed … we cannot go inside them,” said a 32-year-old man, Fromas Sivrice, the epicenter of the quake.
Officials warned residents not to return to the damaged buildings as there could be dangerous aftershocks of the earthquake.
