Time reports that the lawyers in the Harvey Weinstein case have a grid on a jury of 7 men and 5 women for the judgment. The film producer is expected to face his life in prison if he is convicted of rape and sexual assault with proper evidence. It has taken 9 days for the prosecutors and defense lawyers to settle down with the 12 and 3 alternates who will be hearing the testimony in the trial which is expected to last at least several weeks. The trial is one of the critical parts of the era of the #MeToo movement.
In a statement after sexual assault charges against Weinstein were announced in Los Angeles, celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who represents Emmy-nominated ‘Sopranos’ actor Annabella Sciorra in New York, said: “women are no longer willing to suffer in silence and are willing to testify under oath in a court of law.” Weinstein has pleaded not guilty in the New York case, which alleges he raped a woman in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013 and sexually assaulted another in 2006
