President Donald Trump’s latest budget might propose a much heavier military might — this includes using part of the budget on modern nuclear weapons than on diplomatic ability. Which is getting others worried as they believe the necessary finesse is not adequate to deal with the global crisis.
The White House FY 2021 budgets stands at a staggering $4.8 trillion and is already in news for making deep cuts to social safety net programs like Medicaid and Medicare. As Congress already faces a sign-off on government expenditure, the full request is likely to pass as Democrats are in control of the House. And as there is no agreed-upon budget, obviously there’s no agreed-upon spending as well.
The two main national security proposals are:
Foreign aid to slash by 21 percent.
To modernize the nuclear arsenal, $28.9 billion is proposed and the National Nuclear Security Administration which overlooks the American nukes, gets a $19.8 billion proposal.
With this Trump again shows he prefers a stronger military to some extent at the expense of weak development tools and diplomacy.
