Samsung wants to add Progressive Web Apps to it’s app store

tech news today

First, let’s tell you about Progressive Web Apps or PWA’s. So, PWA’s are apps that monitor native apps functions with notifications and offline support. After Google introduced compiling of PWA’s for submission to its Play Store for Android apps, Samsung had also begun inviting web apps towards its Galaxy Store.

While there is nothing hindering the developers from submitting their PWA’s to the Samsung Galaxy Store but, Samsung is giving a different treatment to the web apps. The developers require to submit only the URL of the app and don’t have to go through the long process of writing APK files.

According to Samsung, they have started to integrate PWA’s to their Galaxy Store and want to offer Web App experience alongside the apps. However, you can’t actually install web apps as of yet but, you can run them directly. Better than nothing, I guess.
