Though the crowd’s favourite was Daniel the golden retriever at the Madison Square Garden in New York where the show was organized. Siba, the standard poodle strutted off taking the best in show award at the Westminster Kennel Club.
While Bourbon the whippet took second place at the US version of Crufts.
Daniel, the crowd’s favourite was definitely somewhat an underdog as a golden retriever has not won the award at the Westminster Kennel Club as of yet.
Other contenders were Bono the Havanese, Wilma the boxer, Conrad the Shetland sheepdog, and Vinny the wire fox terrier, all who made into the final grouping.
Poodles come in three different sizes and this is the 10th time they bagged the award and became America’s top dog with the first being in 2002. Last time a standard won was in 1991.
Back to Siba, our winner, she put on an entertaining performance during the non-supporting judging. She did the downward yoga pose before she did circling the ring. A day later, she was at her best and won the award. As for Daniel, better luck next year!
