At least 12 people are dead as a Thai soldier went on a shooting rampage on Saturday night. The incident took place in a popular city north of Bangkok.
A spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Defence told the shooter has been identified as Cpl. Jakraphanth Thomma, who first opened fire on his fellow soldiers then went on to open fire at a Buddhist temple and later at a shopping center in Nakhon Ratchasima 160 miles northeast of Bangkok.
Apart from 12 people, Thomma is also accused of killing his commander, Col. Anantharot Krasae, and two other people on the military camp before taking off in a stolen military vehicle. Part of the shooting got live-streamed on Facebook while reports say, Thomma himself posted a selfie of himself holding a firearm with a caption “so tired.”
The commander of the Second Army Region Lt. Gen. Thanya Kriatisarn, told Bangkok Post, Thomma remains missing at large.
